U.S. rail, drayage, and trucking

Licensed IMC for intermodal rail. We book the truck. We do not own the fleet.

How rail and road freight is booked

Intermodal rail

Used when that transit fits the shipment better than a truck the whole way.

Drayage and truckload

Dry van, flatbed, refrigerated, and oversize trucks, plus smaller loads that should not pay for a full trailer.

On the file, or on its own

Most moves connect an ocean or air shipment. Domestic trucking can also be booked alone.

How a shipment moves

  1. 01

    Quote

Send the pickup, the delivery, the equipment, and the date.

  2. 02

    Book

We book the railroad or a licensed carrier.

  3. 03

    Documents

Appointments, permits, and the freight file stay together.

  4. 04

    Delivery

If a carrier misses the pickup, you hear it from DOF.

What DOF does by rail and road

DOF Logistics is a licensed IMC. We arrange intermodal rail for import and export containers, and DOF Ground books licensed carriers for drayage, truckload, and smaller loads. Cross-border trucking with Mexico or Canada is quoted only when a carrier can take that lane.

The rate depends on weight, size, distance, equipment, and whether the load needs a liftgate, an appointment, or permits. The ports and rail terminals are on the network page.
